A domestic tourist visiting Rara, a popular tourist destination in Nepal, has died due to altitude sickness. Bhuwan Bishwakarma, 54, of Dhulikhel Municipality-10, Kavre, passed away on Monday morning, according to Chief District Officer Kamal Prasad Pandey.
Dr Nakul Shahi of District Hospital Mugu stated that Bishwakarma had visited the hospital at around 9 PM on Sunday after experiencing breathing difficulties. He was diagnosed with low oxygen levels but refused hospital admission. After returning to Salleri, his condition worsened, and his friends brought him back to the hospital in an ambulance at around 6 AM on Monday. However, he was already deceased upon arrival, Dr. Shahi confirmed.
Bishwakarma, who was obese and a chronic asthma patient, suffered a cardiac arrest due to oxygen deprivation, exacerbated by the high altitude, cold weather, and recent snowfall.
On Sunday, a 25-member team, including Bishwakarma, had traveled to the Rara Lake area as part of a visit. -- RSS
