Arrival of tourists in Nepal surged by 11.9 percent in July this year compared to the corresponding month last year, data provided by the Department of Immigration show.
A total of 64,599 international visitors came to Nepal in July this year compared to 57,726 visitors in the same month last year.
Most of the visitors were from the SAARC countries. According to the Department of Immigration, 27,212 or 42.1% of the visitors were from SAARC region with 21,491 from India alone.
Nepal saw 11,901 visitors from other Asian countries including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Myanmar and Thailand.
While the European tourists remained at 9,280 this July, followed by 7,864 Americans and 1,901 Australians who visited Nepal this July.
The data show that foreign visitors from SAARC countries, other Asian countries, and Europe surged by 5.8%, 16.9% and 3.5%, respectively, this July.
Similarly, 72.5% more Australians and 41.4% more Americans visited Nepal in the review period.
