The Office of the Examination Controller at Tribhuvan University (TU) has postponed exams for various faculties due to monsoon-related disasters across the country.
In a notice issued on Saturday, TU announced that the Bachelor's level second year exams 2080 for part-time BA, B.Ed, BBS, and B.Sc. programs under the Faculty of Humanities, Education, Management, and the Institute of Science and Technology, which began on September 26, have been postponed.
The notice states that the rescheduled exams will take place on October 7 at the same time and in the same examination centers.
Additionally, TU has instructed all exam superintendents to consider the notice as official and to open the question paper packets only on October 7.
Schools to remain closed for three days
The federal government on Saturday urged all local levels to close schools for three days due to the ongoing crisis caused by heavy rainfall.
Lakshmi Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, issued a statement on Saturday, informing that the Ministry has requested all local governments to close schools for three days.
The decision follows difficulties in operating schools due to incessant rains and the need to use school buildings as emergency shelters for people affected by floods and landslides.
Spokesperson Bhattarai mentioned that continuous rain across the country has damaged university and school buildings, affected the lives of students and parents, and blocked transportation, making it difficult for schools to remain open.
The Ministry has also asked universities and schools to report any physical damage through the University Grants Commission and the Education and Human Resource Development Center. -- RSS
