The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, which surged 0.88% on Monday after four consecutive trading days of losses, closed 0.94% higher at 2,678.17 on Tuesday, June 10
Trading activity, too, increased on the third trading day of the week, with daily turnover exceeding Rs 10.16 billion, up from over Rs 8.68 billion the previous day.
Over 23.69 million shares were traded across 81,738 transactions on Tuesday, compared to 17.5 million shares traded Monday in 78,848 transactions.
Of the 248 scrips traded, 196 advanced while 52 declined.
All major sub-indices gained: the Sensitive Index 1.11%, the Float Index 0.92%, and the Sensitive Float Index 0.99%.
Pure Energy Limited (PURE) and Shree Investment Finance Co. Ltd. (SIFC) emerged as the biggest gainers, with their share prices climbing 9.99% each. PURE closed at Rs 681.70 per share, while SIFC ended at Rs 536.30.
On the losing end was Rawa Energy Development Limited (RAWA), closing at Rs 822.54 per share after falling 6.14%.
Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited Promoter (HIDCLP) recorded the highest turnover of Rs 584.9 million. Arun Kabeli Power Ltd. (AKPL) and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd. (RADHI) followed with turnovers of Rs 531.3 million and Rs 465.6 million, respectively.
All 13 sectoral indices closed higher, with the Finance Index posting the largest gain of 5.12%, while the Mutual Fund Index rose the least, by 0.23%.
By market close, total market capitalization increased to Rs 4.46 trillion from Rs 4.419 trillion the previous day.
