May 11: United Arab Emirates has expressed its interest to invest in Nepal. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of UAE said that the Kingdom is willing to help Nepal in hospitality and tourism sector.
Al Nahyan made such remarks during the opening of the Embassy of the UAE in Lazimpat, Kathmandu held on Tuesday. Kamal Thapa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Al Nahyan jointly inagurated the embassy. The UAE foreign minister arrived in capital from a special airplane on the invitation of Thapa.
On the occasion, Al Nahyan hailed the opening of the Embassy as a milestone in the relationship between the two countries. Similarly, he expressed his confidence on the ease of visa procedures for Nepalis after the establishment of the embassy.
DPM Thapa stated that the opening of the embassy indicated the importance given by UAE to Nepal. Thapa praised UAE’s contributions in relief and recovery operations after last year’s earthquake.
On Tuesday, Al Nahyan held a meeting with his counterpart Thapa in a hotel in Kathmandu. He also made etiquette meetings with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. With the opening of the embassy, UAE has appointed Sahid Hamanan Al Nakwi as the Ambassador to Nepal. Al Nakwi has yet to present his credentials to the President.
