The winter session of the federal parliament is set to begin today, Friday, at 1:00 PM at the International Convention Centre in New Baneshwar. This session is also regarded as the "bills session" due to its focus on legislative matters.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has released the tentative agenda for both Houses. According to Secretariat Spokesperson Ekram Giri, the Speaker will read letters sent by the President, including one regarding the commencement of the session. As per Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Regulation, 2079, the Speaker will also nominate a member to chair the meeting. Lawmakers will express their views on behalf of their respective parties, following previous parliamentary practices.
During the session, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Promoting Good Governance and Public Service Delivery, 2081. Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will table the Ordinance on Financial Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment), 2081, the Ordinance on Privatization (First Amendment), 2081, and the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Improving Economic and Business Environment and Investment Promotion, 2081.
Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation Bal Ram Adhikari is scheduled to present the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Cooperatives, 2081, along with the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Land Management, 2081.
In addition to these legislative matters, the Speaker will table various condolence motions. The session's agenda also includes the presentation of the Media Council Bill, 2080, and the Committee Report on the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill, 2081, in the National Assembly meeting. -- RSS
