Farmers in Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6, Baglung have recorded a bumper orange harvest this season, producing the fruit worth approximately Rs 54 million, a substantial increase from last season’s total of Rs 35 million, according to Agni Kandel, an agricultural technician at the rural municipality.
An estimated 900 tonnes of oranges were harvested in Ward 6 alone, where orange orchards span over 30 hectares of land. Kandel attributed the rise in production to the absence of crop diseases and the provision of technical support from the rural municipality.
The local government has been actively working to expand orange farming in the area.
According to Loknath Kandel, a local farmer, proper orchard management has played a crucial role in boosting yields.
Farmers in the region report no issues with marketing their produce, as buyers come directly to purchase the fruit.
