Air connectivity resumed at Suketar Airport in Taplejung on Sunday, April 6, following a four-month suspension, according to the state-owned news agency RSS.
Flights had been halted since mid-December after Nepal Airlines grounded its two Twin Otter aircrafts due to technical issues.
Once vital for connecting remote regions, short takeoff and landing (STOL) airports like Suketar have seen a sharp decline in regular flights, largely due to expanding road infrastructure.
On Sunday, a Nepal Airlines flight from Kathmandu landed at Suketar with five passengers and departed with six, according to airport officials.
In previous years, Sita Air and Tara Air operated seasonal flights to Suketar during peak tourist periods. However, both carriers have since discontinued services to the area.
