With the onset of the 2025 summer-autumn flight season, China Southern Airlines has announced a strategic enhancement of its China-Nepal route, aiming to strengthen connectivity and deepen economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
The new flight schedule takes effect from Thursday, April 10.
As part of its revised operations, the airline is resuming its night flight from Kathmandu to Guangzhou, operating daily through October.
The scheduled departure time from Kathmandu is set for 11:30 PM. Additionally, the departure time for daytime flights has been pushed back by 50 minutes, now scheduled to depart at 12:50 PM—an adjustment expected to improve convenience for travelers and optimize connection times.
The frequency of daytime flights will also vary by season. From April 10 through May, flights will operate four times a week—on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This frequency will be reduced to twice weekly (Sundays and Thursdays) during the peak summer months of June through August, before resuming daily service from September through October.
To meet growing demand, China Southern has significantly expanded its seating capacity on the China-Nepal sector. For the current season, the airline will offer approximately 45,000 seats on the Kathmandu-to-Guangzhou route and over 46,000 seats on the return route—a year-on-year increase of more than 6,000 seats (up 16.5%) and over 13,000 seats (up 39.9%), respectively.
“This adjustment not only provides passengers with greater travel flexibility but also facilitates deeper economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and Nepal,” the airline said in a statement. "The increased capacity also aligns with key milestones in bilateral relations, including the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the celebration of the "China-Nepal Tourism Year."
