Arya Hotel & Spa, an upscale property solely funded by non-resident Nepali Krishna Simkhada, who spent nearly two and a half decades in Japan, has officially come into operation. The hotel, located at Narsingh Chowk, Thamel, recently held its soft opening and was built with a total investment of Rs 2.5 billion (approx. USD 18.7 million).
According to the company’s press release, the hotel is dedicated to offering a genuine experience of Nepali art, culture, and hospitality.
Room service charges range from USD 160 to USD 1,600 per night, catering to the preferences of the guests.
“When I was living in Japan, I saw how they preserved their art and culture over generations,” Simkhada shared. “Inspired by that, I returned to Nepal with the dream of doing something meaningful and began developing this hotel.”
Simkhada said he established the hotel with the vision of providing foreign visitors with a memorable and authentic experience of Nepali art and tradition. The hotel lobby features traditional woodwork blending the architectural elements of bhuyar jhyal (bay window) and desmaru jhyaa (classic lattice window). Guests are also welcomed following Nepali customs and rituals, enabling them to experience the essence of local hospitality, he added.
Built on approximately 20 aanas of land (about 682 square metres), the hotel comprises a total of 72 rooms, including 41 deluxe rooms and 29 suites with Jacuzzi facilities. It also features a presidential suite spanning approximately 100 square metres.
Conference facilities include a hall on the first floor with a seating capacity of around 25 people, and a larger hall on the eleventh floor which can accommodate up to 70 people.
