Heavy snowfall in Humla since Friday has disrupted road and air transport, with over one foot of snow accumulating in Namkha Rural Municipality in the northern region. The snowfall for three consecutive days has also hampered daily activities.

Bishnu Lama, former chairman of Namkha Rural Municipality, reported over the phone that the heavy snow has severely impacted movement and logistics.

“Traveling between villages has become challenging, and transporting goods from the district headquarters, Simkot, is nearly impossible,” he said.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal’s office in Simkot confirmed that all flights from Simkot Airport have been suspended due to the adverse weather.

With the cold intensifying, elderly residents and children have been gathering around fires for warmth. Locals remarked that the mornings and evenings this year feel significantly colder than usual. -- RSS
