The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the by-election for the House of Representatives (HoR) seat in Rupandehi-3 will be held on November 3.
The seat has remained vacant since the death of Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Dipak Bohara on April 1.
Bohara had defeated Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand in the 2022 general election to secure his place in the federal parliament.
According to Nepal’s constitution, a vacant parliamentary seat must be filled through a by-election if the remaining term of the Lower House exceeds six months.
In a separate notice, the EC also said that voter registration will be suspended from July 1 until further notice.
