The government has formed a five-member commission to make recommendations for economic reform under the chairmanship of former Finance Secretary Rameshore Khanal.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday, October 7, decided to form the high-level commission following the proposal from the Ministry of Finance, reported RSS, the state-owned new agency.
The formation of this commission was among the targets set by Finance Minister Paudel to achieve within 100 days.
“The commission will hold extensive discussions and consultations with stakeholders concerned and make the recommendations,” said Paudel.
Apart from Khanal, other members of the commission include Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha, member of the National Planning Commission; Prof Dr Ram Prasad Gyawali, Head of the Central Department of Economics, Tribhuvan University; Dr Biswas Gauchan, an economist; and Dr Kalpana Khanal, senior researcher at the Policy Research Institute.
