Heavy snowfall has disrupted normal life in the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu district since Sunday, affecting both tourists and local residents.
According to Karma Sherpa, Senior Vice-Chairperson of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), tourists in the Gokyo area are facing difficulties as trekking routes have been blocked by snow.
"The snow has covered the trails, making it difficult for trekkers to move forward. However, the exact number of people affected has not yet been determined," he said.
Meanwhile, an American tourist who went trekking in the Sagarmatha region has been reported missing. Lamakaji Sherpa, Chairperson of the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, said the 63-year-old U.S. citizen entered the Sagarmatha National Park checkpoint on Wednesday and has been out of contact since.
Search efforts have been hampered by heavy snowfall.
The severe weather has also impacted Everest expeditions, with most climbers remaining at base camp.
Local authorities and concerned agencies are coordinating rescue and relief operations, prioritizing the safety of tourists and residents in the affected areas. -- RSS
