The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index fell 0.54%, or 14.53 points, on Monday, April 28, closing at 2,647.07. The decline followed modest gains of 0.13% on Sunday and 0.07% last Thursday, which had broken a four-day losing streak.
Trading volume also retreated on the second trading day of the week. Daily turnover remained just above Rs 8.91 billion, down from over Rs 10.87 billion the previous day. More than 23.5 million shares changed hands across 76,998 transactions.
Of the 245 listed companies, only 78 posted gains.
All major sub-indices ended in negative territory. The Sensitive Index declined 0.79%, while the Sensitive Float and the Float indices fell 0.77% and 0.56%, respectively.
On the upside, Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited (NMIC) hit the upper circuit limit, emerging as the day’s top gainer. Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited (CREST) followed closely, with its share price rising by 9.99%.
Conversely, Saptakoshi Development Bank Limited (SAPDBL) was the biggest loser of the day, plunging 8.45%.
Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) led in turnover, followed by Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd. (RADHI) and Universal Power Company Ltd. (UPCL).
Sector-wise, only two of the 13 sub-indices posted gains: the Finance Index rose 1.40%, while the Trading Index edged up 0.42%. Among the decliners, the Investment Index recorded the sharpest fall of 2.14%.
