Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has instructed all relevant authorities and mechanisms to remain on high alert and make necessary preparations as heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
His directive follows a weather forecast bulletin from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, warning of potential downpours in these regions.
Minister Lekhak urged all three security agencies, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), chief district officers, and local governments to exercise caution regarding the possible disaster risks. The department has also appealed to the public to stay alert and prepared for the potential risks posed by the expected rainfall.
Emphasizing the need for vigilance, Minister Lekhak stated, "I have directed the chief district officers of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, along with the heads of all security agencies in these disaster-prone areas, to stay alert."
Additionally, the NDRRMA and security agency chiefs under the Ministry of Home Affairs have been asked to coordinate efforts for early preparedness.
Minister Lekhak also advised travelers to exercise caution due to the conditions of major highways and roads, which remain affected by recent rain-triggered landslides and floods, with risks still persisting in some areas. -- RSS
