The Urban Planning Commission under Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has so far prepared Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for 84 projects in the current fiscal year.  

Among these, 37 are heritage-related, 33 pertain to infrastructure, and 13 focus on greenery and park development.  

According to Dhan Bahadur Basnet, head of the commission’s secretariat, the estimated cost of these projects totals Rs 1.06 billion.  

KMC has scheduled the 16th session of the municipal assembly for Sunday, December 29. The Budget Formulation Committee is currently reviewing the approved programs for the fiscal year 2024/25, discussing amendments to replace unfeasible programs with implementable alternatives.  

KMC operates with 16 departments, 31 major divisions, 55 branches, and four secretariats. Its organizational structure includes the Municipal Assembly, Executive Committee, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer, and various departments.  

Under the Mayor’s office, key entities include the Urban Planning Commission, Resource Estimation and Budget Limit Committee, Hanuman Dhoka Palace Conservation Program, land consolidation projects (Chamati, Manohara, and Naya Bazar), International Relations Secretariat, and the Public-Private Partnership Unit.  

The Deputy Mayor oversees the Judicial Committee, Revenue Advisory Committee, Program and Budget Formulation Committee, and Market Management and Consumer Protection Committee.
