For over six decades, Khukri has held a special place in the hearts of rum enthusiasts, and now, it is ready to present its next premium offering to global connoisseurs.
Nepal Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. (NDPL), the maker of Khukri Rum, has unveiled the first edition of its limited cask series. Only 5,200 bottles, each uniquely numbered, of the exclusive rum has been produced, the company said in a statement.
“It stands as an unparalleled example of Nepali craftsmanship, firmly placing Khukri Rum on the global map of premium rums,” reads the statement. “Among the limited production, only 1,600 bottles will be available in the domestic market.”
This premium rum will be sold at Rs 10,000 in the Nepali market exclusively through private channels to selected customers.
The art of making cask rum is a passionate journey that begins with selecting Himalayan water and high-quality molasses from sugarcane. These raw materials undergo a complex process involving fermentation, distillation, and aging in carefully selected casks. The centerpiece of this special edition is a wooden barrel used for aging premium spirits. These casks play a crucial role in creating rich and balanced flavors, the company said.
“The first edition of the cask series, with a smoked finish, presents deep and innovative flavors,” the statement continues. “The unique aging process in charred casks gives rise to refined and intense taste profiles. The charring technique, used exclusively for this edition, imparts a smoky aroma, adding natural flavors to the rum.”
The process also infuses the rum with hints of smoky, lightly burned wood and subtle spices, making this rum truly unique.
The toasting and charring of the cask allow for smoky and woody flavors, while precise temperature and humidity control optimize the aging process.
“This meticulous aging delivers extraordinary taste with every sip. The result is a one-of-a-kind experience that reflects the craftsmanship and dedication involved in creating the Khukri Cask Series,” reads the statement. “Future editions of the cask series will feature other casks and processes.”
