SLC Supplementary Results
The Office of the Controller of the Examination (OCE), Sanothimi published the results of SLC Supplementary exam-2069 on last Monday. Out of 111,724 examinees, 67,051 students have passed the Iron Gate which is 60 percent of the total strength. Among them, 34,143 are boys and 32,908 are girls, according to Examination Controller Khag Raj Baral. The examinations were held in the month of August in 2013. TU Students Can Now See Their Answer Sheets
Tribhuvan University has finally decided to allow students to see their answer sheets after the publication of their exam results. This comes after two years of Supreme Court’s order to this effect. The Executive Council meeting of the University led by Chairman of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi last Monday amended its regulation as per the apex court order to allow students to see their answer sheets if they are not satisfied with their marks. The verdict was made on the basis of the provisions of Article 27 of Interim Constitution 2007 and Right to Information Act 2007. Now onwards, students who are not satisfied with their examination marks can see attested copies of their answer sheets after paying specified fee.
Best Teachers Award
Shankar Lal Shrestha, headmaster at the Kuti Danda Secondary School of Dolakha, and Sonam Dolma Lama, teacher at Kyul-based Yangimara Boarding School of Sindhupalchok are conferred with PP Prasain Foundation Best Teacher Award for introducing children-friendly teaching methodologies in remote areas. Minister for Education Madhav Poudel presented the award to the teachers. On the occasion, Lama announced that she would donate Rs 10,000 of the cash prize to the school where she has been teaching.
Outstanding Students Awarded
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Interim Election Government Chairman Khil Raj Regmi conferred awards on September 8 to the students for their outstanding performance in the last fiscal year. Total 248 individuals were awarded with Nepal Bidhyabhusan honours and certificates for completing their PhDs from various universities in and outside the country. He felicitated 152 PhD graduates with Nepal Bidhyabhusan ‘A’ and a certificate. ‘B’ grade honour was conferred to 58 Masters’ degree students for securing highest scores and 20 students were feted with ‘C’ grade honour for securing top scores in Bachelors’ degrees. Similarly, 13 girl students obtaining highest marks in Bachelor-level examinations and six students who secured highest scores at the intermediate level were honoured with ‘Nepal Girl Students Bidhya Award’.
Scholarships now from Bank
Department of Education is giving scholarships to students through bank from now onwards. The step has been taken to reduce the irregularities in scholarships distribution in secondary level of community schools. A secondary level scholarship student of community school receives Rs 1,700 monthly. According to the new provision, District Education Office will deposit the amount in students’ account. Students who are under 16 can open their account under the patronage of their guardians. Government is providing 16 various types of scholarships from primary to higher secondary education.
