Nepal and Thailand have signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in tourism, culture, and trade. The agreements were signed in the presence of Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra during Oli's official visit to Thailand.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba signed the MoUs on behalf of Nepal, while Thailand's Minister for Culture Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol signed the MoU on cultural cooperation, and Minister for Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong signed the MoU on tourism cooperation.
Additionally, an MoU was signed between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade. FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade, Sanan Angubolkul, signed the agreement in the presence of the two prime ministers. The MoU aims to strengthen trade ties, promote economic cooperation, and establish a structured framework for expanding trade and investment between the two countries.
Similarly, separate MoUs were signed between the Confederation of Nepalese Industries and the Federation of Thai Industries, as well as between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Council of Thailand. Kathmandu University and Siam University also signed an agreement to enhance academic collaboration.
Prime Minister Oli arrived in Thailand on April 1, leading a Nepali delegation to attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit and for an official visit at the invitation of the Thai government. -- RSS
