The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, which had neared the 2,700-mark after closing in green in the first two trading sessions of the week, fell by 27.39 points on Tuesday to close at 2,663.32 points.
The third trading session of the week also saw a significant decline in turnover amount – to Rs 4.59 billion, compared to Rs 7.1 billion in the previous session.
Over 10 million shares were traded on Tuesday in 45,870 transactions.
All major indices closed in the red, with the Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float indices dropping by 0.73 percent, 0.99 percent, and 0.72 percent, respectively.
Mid Solu Hydropower Limited (MSHL) led the gainers’ pack, hitting the upper circuit limit, followed by Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) which saw a 6.83 percent rise.
In contrast, Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL) became the biggest loser of the day, with its share price dropping by 8.50 percent.
NLG Insurance Company Ltd. (NLG) led the turnover chart, followed by Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS).
Sector-wise, the Finance Index recorded the largest decline of 2.76 percent, while the Banking Index saw the lowest loss of 0.36 percent.
