The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 31.48 points on Tuesday, October 15, to close at 2699.66 points.
The first trading session after the Dashain holidays saw a turnover of Rs 3.06 billion, compared to Rs 3.76 billion in the previous session last Wednesday, October 9, when the index had gained 4.85 points.
Over 6 million shares were traded in 35,648 transactions.
The Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float indices closed in green, gaining 1.23 percent, 1.32 percent, and 1.27 percent, respectively.
Janaki Finance Company Limited (JFL) and Mithila LaghuBitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBBL) became the top gainers of the day, both hitting the upper circuit limit.
In contrast, Mid Solu Hydropower Limited (MSHL) hit the negative circuit limit to become the biggest loser.
Goodwill Finance Limited (GFCL) led the turnover pack, followed by Nepal Finance Ltd. (NFS).
Sector-wise, all the sub-indices closed in green except for the Manufacturing and Processing Index, which saw a 0.22 percent drop.
The Finance Index recorded the highest growth of 4.61 percent.
