Following three consecutive days of decline, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged 26.53 points, or 1.02%, on Sunday, June 29, closing at 2,622.28.
Daily turnover, however, declined, from Rs 7.78 billion last Thursday (previous trading day) to Rs 7.12 billion.
Among the key sub-indices, the Sensitive Index climbed 1.05%, the Float Index rose 1.15%, and the Sensitive Float Index gained 1.16%.
Out of the 248 listed companies that were traded on the first trading day of the week, 185 closed higher while 63 declined.
Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) led the day’s gainers, surging 9.99%. In contrast, Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd (JOSHI) became the biggest loser, falling 5.57%.
Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS) topped the turnover chart with transactions worth Rs 578.68 million. It was followed by Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) and Union Hydropower Limited (UNHPL), with turnovers of Rs 349.96 million and Rs 243.38 million, respectively.
Of 13 sectoral indices, only the Manufacturing and Processing Index closed in the red, falling 0.56%. The Banking SubIndex surged the highest, 2%.
NEPSE’s total market capitalization stood at Rs 4,369.1 billion by the end of the day’s trading.
