After a decline on the previous trading day, following three consecutive sessions of gains, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 0.94% or 25.31 points on Wednesday, April 2, closing at 2,701.48. On Tuesday, the index had fallen by 0.62%.
Despite the index's recovery, trading volume saw a downturn, with total turnover exceeding Rs 5.44 billion, down from over Rs 5.79 billion the previous day.
More than 10 million shares changed hands across 53,884 transactions.
All major indices ended the session in positive territory. The Sensitive Index climbed 0.35%, the Float Index advanced 0.53%, and the Sensitive Float Index edged up 0.44%.
Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC) and Central Finance Co. Ltd. (CFCL) led the day's gainers, both hitting the upper circuit limit. Meanwhile, Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited (BNL) hit the lower circuit limit, making it the session’s biggest loser.
CEDB Holdings Limited (CHDC) topped the turnover chart, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) and Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL).
Among the 13 sectoral indices, only Manufacturing & Processing and Non-Life Insurance closed in the red, declining 1.43% and 0.25%, respectively. The Trading Index posted the day's highest gain, surging 9.49%.
