The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the prices of petrol and diesel effective from Thursday, January 16.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the state-owned oil monopoly said that it has increased the price of petrol by Rs 2 per liter and diesel and kerosene by Rs 3 per liter, effective from 1 am on Thursday.
The NOC said it fixed the new prices according to the price list sent by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), its sole supplier.
The new prices set by the NOC will be applicable in all three categories of places fixed by the NOC.
The first category includes Charali, Biratnagar, Birgunj, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi areas.
In this area, the price of petrol will now cost Rs 162.50 per liter while diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 153.50 per liter.
Similarly, Surkhet and Dang areas fall under the second category where the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 164 per liter. Diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 155 per liter in these areas.
The third category includes Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal where the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 165 per liter. Diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 156 per liter in these areas.
