The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has called on the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to support Nepal in technology development, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and sustainable tourism.
A high-level NTB delegation, currently in Europe, met with UN Tourism officials in Madrid, Spain, to discuss further cooperation. The delegation, led by Binod Prakash Singh, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, expressed gratitude for the UN’s ongoing support and urged additional collaboration to modernize Nepal’s tourism sector.
Harry Hwang, Director of the Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific at UNWTO, assured Nepal of continued UN cooperation. He encouraged Nepal to actively participate in UN tourism-related initiatives and submit formal proposals outlining priority areas for further assistance.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi, Director General of the Department of Tourism, reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with UNWTO to promote sustainable tourism.
NTB representatives highlighted Nepal’s immense potential in adventure tourism, eco-tourism, and rural tourism. They emphasized that UN-backed projects and technical assistance are crucial to elevating Nepal’s tourism industry to new heights.
As part of its ongoing promotional efforts, NTB, in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in Spain, organized a special event to showcase Nepal’s diverse tourism destinations.
