Over Rs 1.74 billion has been collected in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund until Wednesday, October 16.
The contribution by individuals and institutions is for the victims of rain-induced disasters in the last week of September.
The fund received donations from ten institutions and an individual on Wednesday alone, reported RSS, the state-owned news agency attributing the details made public by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Around 250 people were killed, 178 injured and 18 went missing until last Monday, October 7, in floods and landslides across the country following incessant rain for three days beginning September 27, according to police . The disasters have caused damage worth billions of rupees across various sectors.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport alone estimated, earlier this month, that it will cost between Rs 20 and Rs 25 billion to fully repair and reconstruct the roads and bridges, reported RSS.
The government has declared 71 local levels across 20 districts as disaster crisis zones for a period of three months. The move aims to streamline relief distribution, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts.

However, there are reports that many survivors, including those in the worst-affected areas, are yet to receive government’s support.
