Light rainfall along with thunder has been taking place in hill areas of Bagmati and Gandaki province on Monday. Light rain was also reported in some areas of the hill districts of Bagmati Province and Koshi Province on Sunday, during Bhaitika.
Climate expert Dr Binod Pokharel wrote on social media platform X that weak western disturbance brought precipitation and cooler weather in Nepal.
Dr Pokharel, who is an Associate Professor at the Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology of Tribhuvan University, confirmed on Monday afternoon that light rain with thunderstorm is occurring in some areas of Bagmati and Gandaki.
“WeatherUpdate: More rain is forecast for today (Monday) and tonight. Sunny weather from tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon,” he posted on X.
According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, there is a possibility of light rain in the hill areas across the remaining provinces' hill districts and in few places in Terai region as well.
Shanti Kandel, senior meteorologist at the department, said that the rainfall is expected to have a negligible impact. She confirmed that the weather conditions will gradually improve from Tuesday onwards, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported.
