During a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, Committee Coordinator and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel underscored the importance of curbing illegal exports and imports through alternative routes and areas near customs checkpoints. He stated that significant progress in controlling illegal trade could be achieved if all agencies acted responsibly and proactively.

Similarly, Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire noted that regulating the production and import of goods at the source would make it easier to control illegal transactions. He expressed confidence that the commitments made by officials in the meeting would be translated into action at the implementation level.

They emphasized the importance of strengthening border surveillance, enhancing market monitoring, and prioritizing the use of technology in revenue control efforts.
