The Swayambhu Festival 2081, which kicked off on February 22, is an initiative of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 to safeguard and promote Nepal’s religious and cultural heritage.
Held at Bhuinkhel Ground and Dharma Chakra Park, the festival showcases a diverse blend of traditional music, art, and history. Exhibitions feature paintings illustrating cultural and religious customs from birth to death, Buddhist history, postal stamps, and coins, offering visitors a deep dive into Nepal’s rich traditions.
Adding to the festival’s charm are stalls serving authentic traditional cuisine and free health check-ups, drawing significant public interest.
The evenings come alive with electrifying musical performances by renowned artists and bands. Kutumba, Ujan Shakya, Rockstar Rajan, and The Heartbreakers among others have already performed. On Friday, audiences can look forward to performances by Kuma Sagar and Khwopa.
The festival runs until Saturday, March 1, celebrating Nepal’s cultural legacy through music, art, and community engagement.
