Tara Air has announced to resume its Pokhara-Jomsom flights starting today (Tuesday). The flights, which were halted due to adverse weather conditions with the onset of monsoon, will recommence from September 3, the company said in a statement.
Sudarshan Bartaula, Aviation Security Officer at Tara Air, stated that the flights are resuming due to improved weather and the upcoming tourist season. The aircraft will be stationed in Pokhara overnight to facilitate flights between Pokhara and Jomsom, with operations being conducted from the old airport in Pokhara.
Jomsom Airport, located at an altitude of 2,736 meters, has a runway that measures 739 meters in length.
In addition, Tara Air has announced a flight schedule for the Ramechhap-Lukla-Ramechhap route, starting September 20, in anticipation of the tourist season. The airline plans to operate 10 to 15 flights daily between Manthali in Ramechhap district and Lukla in Solukhumbu district, using its two Twin Otter aircraft, Bartaula said.
This arrangement has been made to accommodate the expected influx of tourists to the Everest region as the tourist season begins after the monsoon. Lukla is known as the gateway to the Everest region, home to the world's highest peak, Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha). -- RSS
