The United States defeated Nepal in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 Series by three wickets on Sunday.
The US met the target of 287 runs presented by Nepal in 49.4 overs at the loss of seven wickets in the match played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Shayan Jahangir made the highest contribution of 104 runs to steer the US to victory. He scored 12 fours and four sixes off 97 balls.
Likewise, Captain Monank Patel scored 62 runs including five fours facing 76 balls. Harmeet Singh scored 57 runs off 44 balls with six fours and two sixes. Shadley Van Schalkwyk scored 27, Jasdeep Singh and Saiteza Mukamalla scored 11 runs each and Milind Kumar scored five runs.
Nepali bowler Kushal Bhurtel took four wickets while Sompal Kami took two wickets and Lalit Rajbanshi one.
Earlier, invited to bat first, Nepal scored 286 runs for the loss of all wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Nepal’s captain Rohit Poudel scored 96 runs off 75 balls with 8 fours and three sixes.
Opener Asif Sheikh scored 52 runs off 53 balls including 7 fours and a six while Anil Sah scored 56 runs off 62 balls with five fours.
Similarly, Arif Sheikh contributed 37 runs, Kushal Bhurtel (11), Dipendra Singh Airee (13), Gulshan Jha (1) and Sompal Kami (2) runs.
Nosthusha Kenjige took four wickets for the US while Harmeet Singh, Shadley Van Schalkwyk and Jasdeep Singh took one wicket each.
Nepal will now face Scotland in the triangular series on Tuesday. Nepal is in the seventh place with three points from nine matches with seven defeats and one win in the League 2.
The US is in the second place with 14 points from 10 matches including seven wins. Canada is at the top with 16 points from 12 matches. -- RSS
