Information Center Set Up at Central Zoo

February 20: An information center has been set up at the central zoo for public education, especially for the young generation. The newly established center named after Field Marshall Sir John Chapple aims to extend the message of conversation to a broader audience.

Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet on Tuesday (February 19) inaugurated the Field Marshall Sir John Chapple Education Centre established by the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) in collaboration with the British Embassy and financial support from Nepal Investment Bank Limited.

Nepal Investment Bank said in a statement that it volunteered to establish the educational center in the only zoo in Nepal as a part of its corporate social responsibility.

“NIBL believes that learning experience can be enhanced with the use of technology, creating interesting and interactive environment for children and also to gain knowledge about animals and their habitat,” the statement said, adding, “This is an attempt to inculcate pro-conservation attitudes in children at an early stage beyond their classrooms.”

Nepal Investment Bank said it decided to provide a financial support of Rs 5 million to NTNC’s endeavor that will eventually enhance visitor’s learning experience and overall animal management in the central zoo.
