NOC Hikes Price of Petrol by Rs 4 Per Liter

April 1: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of petrol by Rs 4 per liter effective from Monday, April 1. With the price adjustment, the price of petrol has increased to Rs 175 per litre in the Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Dipayal.

Similarly, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 174 per litre in Surkhet and Dang, and Rs 172.50 per liter in Charaali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, and Birgunj.

The state-owned NOC said that it increased the price of petrol based on new purchase price provided by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the sole supplier of petroleum products to Nepal.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, the NOC said that the IOC increased the price of petrol by Rs 4.76 per liter. The IOC has lowered the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 0.39 per litre and that of LP gas by Rs 27.44 per cylinder.

However, the NOC said that the prices of diesel, kerosene and cooking gas remains unchanged. The NOC argued that the price of cooking gas has not been changed as it still faces loss of Rs 296.15 in LP gas per cylinder.
