Smart Telecom Commencing 4G Service

June 12: The private telecommunications service providing company, Smart Telecom will be starting its 4G service from July 30.

Smart Telecom is preparing to start the service from the fixed time as it has received the technology neutrality license from Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA).

According to Sabin Shrestha, Chief Administrative Officer of Smart Telecom, the service will be started from Kathmandu. As per the roll out plan permitted by NTA, the company will be expanding its 4G service to Pokhara, Chitwan and Birgunj by mid-October.

Likewise, the company is planning to expand the service to Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Butwal and other big cities after this.

Smart 4G will be using 1800 band whereas the company has 12 megahertz frequency now.

 Bijay Kumar Roy, Deputy Director of NTA informed that the roll out plan was permitted to start 4G from five MHz. The company started its service from the western region and has expanded its network in more than 45 districts.

The company has made commitment with NTA to expand its network in the districts connected by East-West Highway till mid-January, 2018.

According to the statistics of the Authority, currently Smart Telecom is providing its telephone service to 1,493,922 customers and mobile internet service to 120,228 customers.
