Rally Held to Mark World Oral Health Day

March 21: Nepal Dental Association (NDA) in association with Pepsodent organized a mass rally from Khulla Manch to Ratna Park, Kathmandu on the occasion of World Oral Health Day on March 20.

Issuing a joint press statement, the organisers said that the rally was held to raise awareness on this issue. The rally started from Khulla Manch and went around the surrounding areas. More than 500 people including doctors, dental assistants, dental students from various dental colleges in Kathmandu, general public and representatives of Unilever Nepal Limited participated in this rally.

This time, Pepsodent and NDA said they tied up with Bir Hospital to organize free dental check-ups as well.

Under the coordination of Dr Bishwa Prachanda Sedai, the NDA decided to hold weeklong dental camps from March 16 to 22, offering free oral and dental check-up in every dental college, hospital and clinic all over Nepal.

According to FDI (World Dental Federation), brushing teeth twice with fluoridated toothpaste like Pepsodent helps save teeth and gums to a greater extent. Pepsodent, one of the trusted and popular brands of Unilever, said it has been playing a significant role in Nepal’s oral health care for a long time.

“If oral health is properly taken care of, it enhances one’s personality and self confidence. Brushing teeth with flouridated toothpaste kills 95 percent bacteria in two minutes,” reads the statement.

Pepsodent claimed that it has been working constantly to promote oral health in Nepal with various activities like dental camps, school awareness programs, smile carnival etc.
