New Launches Heats up Smartphone Market

The Nepali smartphone market is hotting up with all leading brands like Samsung, Redmi, Honor and OnePlus unveiling their latest offerings in February. Samsung took the lead with the release of its latest flagship model, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Of the three variants of S series, the S24 Ultra garnered significant attention as the flagship offering. With the S24 series, Samsung introduced its standout feature—the Galaxy AI, marking a significant addition to its lineup.

Although the S24 Ultra shares similarities with its predecessor, the S23 Ultra, it introduces Gorilla Armor, enhancing drop and scratch resistance. Furthermore, its durability is heightened by the inclusion of a new titanium frame, ensuring improved toughness. The Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 6.8-inch diagonal OLED display. With a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, the phone offers two modes that serve as thresholds: the standard mode caps the refresh rate at 60Hz, while the adaptive mode enables it to reach the maximum 120Hz. 

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset by Qualcomm. Additionally, it features a 200-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra wide camera. The S24 Ultra is priced at Rs 184,999 for the 12 RAM/256GB variant and Rs 199,999 for the 12 RAM/256 GB variant. 

OnePlus has also unveiled its latest flagship OnePlus 12. The flagship smartphone from OnePlus for 2024 is powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It boasts a peak display brightness of 4500 nits, along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Additionally, it supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The OnePlus 12 features an impressive 6.82-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels.

The OnePlus 12 showcases Sony's latest 50MP LYTIA 808 "Pixel Stacked" sensor as its primary camera. Accompanying this sensor are two additional cameras: a 64MP OV64B telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom (up from 2x), and a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultrawide camera, enriching the OnePlus 12's photographic versatility. The OnePlus 12 price in Nepal is Rs 139,999 (16/512GB).

Xiaomi Nepal introduced the Redmi Note 13 Series in Nepal during the first week of February. Consisting of the Redmi Note 13, Redmi Note 13 Pro, and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, this new series aims at revolutionising the smartphone experience with state-of-the-art features, robust processors, and advanced camera systems.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G boasts a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED Curved 1.5K display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 and a high refresh rate of 120Hz. With an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, it seamlessly combines elegance with durability, distinguishing itself in both style and substance. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset, the phone features a 4nm octa-core processor ensuring smooth performance. The phone is available in configurations of 8GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. The Redmi Note 13 Pro is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultra processor and boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 13 is driven by the Snapdragon 685 chipset and features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. 

It is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, and Rs 27,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro is priced at Rs 34,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, and Rs 39,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is priced at Rs 47,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, and Rs 52,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant.
