FeedbackSalute to the Nepali women Entrepreneurs
The cover story “Nepali women as entrepreneurs” published in the March issue of your magazine is very inspiring. It’s good to know that the Nepali women are breaking the shackles of socio-cultural barriers and coming ahead to lead businesses as entrepreneurs. These women are leaders and inspire others to follow in their footsteps or do something in the field of entrepreneurship. I salute the women entrepreneurs of Nepal. They have proved that women are as capable as men; all they need is the capital and opportunity.

Still, women in Nepal are hugely underrepresented within the entrepreneurial population. Socio-cultural barriers are to be blamed for this underrepresentation. The challenge faced by the government is choosing the right policies and legislative measures that will strengthen the entrepreneurial framework conditions and instill a mindset favourable to women entrepreneurs, enabling them, against all odds, to translate their vision into a successful business enterprise!

Many socio-cultural factors confine women to traditional, socially acceptable roles which leave very little room for entrepreneurial aspirations. The literacy rate for women is estimated at less than 40 per cent in rural areas. Literacy is key to the programmes that foster entrepreneurship. It is a requirement to access the free training, some funding and marketing assistance, offered by Nepal’s government and by non-governmental organizations.

Encouraging Entrepreneurs
I read the article “Social Entrepreneurship is gaining Momentum” published in March 2014 issue. The article is really inspiring. Surya Nepal is doing a great job by providing a platform for social entrepreneurs to exchange, ideas and interact and learn from the experts, build networks and promote their work. It is good to know that the number of participants and award winners are increasing every year. This is a very good way to encourage social entrepreneurs. Surya Nepal has promoted the development of entrepreneurship that has contributed for sustainable economic growth along with social development. Similar efforts are needed also in others fields of entrepreneurship.

Good Journey as a Trader
The article “Chachan Group: Trader to Manufacturer” of March 2014 issue was really good. It is good to know that companies from outside Kathmandu such as Chachan Group have evolved into an industrial house initially beginning the journey as a trader. Chachan group has been expanding its business and contributing a lot to the Nepali economic sector. The group has shown remarkable progress in goods manufacturing with its diverse range of products. With its remarkable growth and consumer oriented goods, it is undoubtedly the leading business house in Nepal. It has been keeping its promise to offer best quality products and services at a reasonable cost. Along with business activities, it is doing many CSR activities that are oriented towards environmental protection. This indeed is an inspiration to other entrepreneurs.

Fashion Attracts All
The article on Fashion and Interior Designing course in Nepal (Designing your Dreams) was a good piece of writing. The article really helped me a lot as I was willing to pursue the course myself. I want to thank the writer for explaining the scopes and career opportunities of both of the subjects really well. It provided me with a clear idea about the course.

Furthermore, IEC has really done something incredible by establishing an institution on designing courses. It has addressed the increasing passion and global trend for these courses. As the scenario for fashion designing now has thoroughly changed and it’s not anymore viewed with the stereotypes. These kinds of articles should be encouraged more.
