An aircraft operated by Thai AirAsia made an unauthorised entry into Nepali airspace on Sunday, October 27, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
The airline reportedly has not secured permission to land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu under the winter schedule for international carriers , which began on Sunday. The schedule will be in effect until March 31, 2025.
The flight from Bangkok to Kathmandu on Sunday was held in the air for more than an hour, before it was allowed to land.
Subsequently, CAAN, the country’s aviation regulator, has decided to suspend the General Sales Agent (GSA) Authorisation of Universal Tours and Travel Pvt. Ltd. for the airline until further notice.
Authority's Information Officer Gyanendra Bhul told RSS, the state-owned news agency, that the CAAN had suspended all flights of the Thai AirAsia for the time being.
