Chitwan-based BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital has launched the ‘flow cytometry’ service.
Dr. Umesh Nepal, Deputy-Director at the hospital, told RSS, the state-owned news agency, that necessary equipment worth Rs 15 million have been installed to launch the service which is used to detect the type of blood cancer.
In the absence of the service, the hospital had to send the samples to India or Kathmandu, which cost more and delayed the result.
In order to operate the machine, the hospital had sent a doctor and a technician to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, India, for training, according to RSS.
