A massive fire at the Shangrila Plywood Industry in Khaira, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis-9, has destroyed property worth millions of rupees. Authorities believe the fire started due to an electrical short circuit at 2 a.m on Monday morning.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Shah of the District Police Office, Dang, locals of more than 30 houses near the industry were evacuated due to the risk of fire spreading in the nearby settlements. As firefighters struggled to control the fire at the plywood factory, spanning eight bighas, by Monday morning, authorities evacuated residents and moved their belongings to safer locations.
The fire has consumed wood, raw materials, ply-making machines, and other equipment. The blaze, which began at 2 a.m., remains uncontrolled by the time this news report was prepared.
Fire engines from Ghorahi, Tulsipur, Lamahi, Gadhwa, and Kapilvastu were brought to douse the fire. Personnel from Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, the Nepali Army, and local volunteers have teamed up to extinguish the flames. -- RSS
