Nebula Energy and Gogoro Inc. on Friday (August 30) launched the exclusive product range of Gogoro with Pulse and Jego and also announced the locations for 45 battery swapping stations in the Kathmandu Valley.
The announcement was made amid a media interaction program organised at the M3 stall of Gogoro at NADA Auto Show.
Founded in 2011, Gogoro is a Taiwnese company, widely considered as a global technology leader in battery-swapping ecosystems that enable sustainable mobility solutions for cities. Besides Taiwan, it is operational in the Philippines, China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Israel, Singapore, and now in Nepal.
In Taiwan, the Gogoro Network supports more than 610,000 riders and has more than 1.4 million smart batteries in circulation through its network of 12,500 battery swapping stations at over 2,500 locations.
Nebula Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of MG Group which said it was committed to leading the way towards an environmentally sustainable and energy independent Nepal.
Speaking at the programme, Chairman of Nebula Energy Manoj Goyal expressed his commitment and vision towards contributing to Nepal’s zero-emission targets through the new age of sustainable mobility and technology with Gogoro.
Sahayu Goyal, the Managing Director, added that the mass-scale adoption of EVs in the two-wheeler segment must be enabled through technology.
The Gogoro range of scooters powered by battery-swapping technology provides a unique solution that addresses the major challenges faced by consumers when deciding to buy an electric two-wheeler today, the company said in a statement.
Nebula Energy is currently offering the battery swapping services to strategic B2B partners for their GX250 models. It is set to inaugurate the first Gogoro showroom in Narayan Chaur, Naxal in mid-September.
“Following the inauguration, customers will have the opportunity to test ride the scooters and make pre-bookings at a special introductory price and get the delivery of their smartscooters post Dashain,” reads the statement.
Nebula also announced the locations for 45 battery swapping stations around Kathmandu valley ensuring that there is a station available every 2-3 kilometres. They will be strategically located in petrol pumps, marts, malls and areas of common interest for ease and accessibility of the customers.
The company’s battery subscription plan provides access to the entire network of swap stations.
“Eventually, Nebula Energy plans to install more battery swapping stations than the number of petrol stations in Nepal,” reads the statement.
The company claimed that Gogoro Pulse was the world’s first hyper electric scooter which demonstrates Gogoro’s innovation and capability.
“The Pulse utilises an advanced aerodynamic design, a new 9kw Gogoro-designed powertrain, revolutionary adaptive active-matrix lightning and a panoramic high-definition touch display,” reads the statement.
Similarly, key features of Gogoro JEGO include dual battery options that enable higher speeds and longer ranges. It also includes an extended comfortable seat, spacious trunk, and light weight making it easily manoeuvrable and walkable.
The GX250 is Gogoro's first India-made smartscooter manufactured in Maharashtra. “The CrossOver series is built on a redesigned all-terrain frame that enables increased rigidity and comfort while offering a variety of storage, riding, and customization capabilities,” reads the statement.
