An immigration office has been established at Korala checkpoint in Loanthang of Upper Mustang.
The office is expected to facilitate the movement of people and ease the import and export with China. It would be officially inaugurated in a few days, according to the District Administration Office, Mustang.
Assistant Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Subedi told RSS, the state-owned news agency, that preparations have been completed for inauguration.
“Until now, only residents of Mustang get permits to go to China via Korala,” said Subedi. “With the operation of the Immigration Office, all Nepali citizens will be able to go China through the checkpoint after getting the visa.”
It will also facilitate Chinese tourists to visit Mustang, Subedi added.
A 10-room building has been constructed to house the immigration office. The authorities intend to provide integrated service by setting up necessary infrastructures.
