The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, after four consecutive days of gains, dropped 0.41% on Thursday, January 23, to close at 2,654.35.
The setback on the week's final trading day reduced the overall weekly gain to 65.7 points, following a 46.45-point loss last week.
Daily turnover also dipped to just over Rs 7.85 billion, compared to over Rs 9.20 billion on Wednesday. More than 15 million shares changed hands across 84,007 transactions on the last trading day of the week.
All major indices ended the day in the red. The Sensitive Index and Float Index fell 0.44 percent each, while the Sensitive Float Index dropped 0.51 percent.
Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL), Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) and Sikles Hydropower Limited (SIKLES) were among the top gainers, hitting the upper circuit limit. Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) and Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (DLBS) followed, with share price increases of 9.89% and 9.84%, respectively.
Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) and Mandakini Hydropower Limited (MHL) were the day's biggest losers, both hitting the lower circuit limit.
In terms of turnover, Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) led the pack, followed by NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) and United IDI Mardi RB Hydropower Limited (UMRH).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only two ended in the green. The Development Bank Index saw the highest increase of 0.83 percent, while the Finance Index recorded the largest decline of 2.43 percent.
