The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 0.4 percent, or 10.61 points, on Monday, January 27, closing at 2,633.32. This marked the third consecutive day of decline, following a 0.41 percent drop last Thursday and 0.39 percent on Sunday.
Daily turnover, too, declined on the second trading day of the week, surpassing Rs 8.92 billion compared to over Rs 9.12 billion the previous day.
More than 17 million shares changed hands across 87,564 transactions on Monday.
All major indices ended the day in the red. The Sensitive Index dropped by 0.46 percent, while the Float Index and Sensitive Float Index decreased by 0.27 percent and 0.41 percent, respectively.
Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) became the top gainer of the day, hitting the upper circuit limit. It was followed by Janaki Finance Company Limited (JFL), Green Development Bank Ltd. (GRDBL), and Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL), which saw their share prices increase by 9.98 percent, 9.97 percent, and 9.96 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) became the top loser, with its share price declining by 8.46 percent.
In terms of turnover, Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) led the pack, followed by Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) and NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN).
Among the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only five recorded gains. The Finance Index saw the largest increase of 3.46 percent, while the Trading Index suffered the biggest drop of 1.83 percent.
