The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged by 6.53 points on Wednesday, January 8, closing at 2,653.38. This follows a gain of 6.16 points the previous day.
This marks six consecutive days of growth.
Last week, the index declined by 36.88 points, reversing the previous week's gain of 33.88 points.
Along with the rise in the index, daily turnover also surged on Wednesday, exceeding Rs 6.40 billion compared to over Rs 5.38 billion recorded the previous day.
Over 15 million shares were traded across 72,120 transactions on the fourth trading day of the week.
All major indices closed higher, with the Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float indices rising by 0.22 percent, 0.39 percent, and 0.22 percent, respectively.
Samriddhi Finance Company Limited (SFCL) hit the upper circuit to become the biggest gainer of the day. Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) and Chirkhwa Hydropower Limited (CKHL) followed closely, with their share prices rising by 9.99 percent and 9.83 percent, respectively.
In contrast, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL) hit the lower circuit, becoming the biggest loser.
Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) led in turnover, followed by Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) and Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL).
Out of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, six ended in positive territory. The Finance Index recorded the highest increase of 4.70 percent, while the Trading Index saw the steepest decline of 1.56 percent.
