The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged for the third straight day on Tuesday, January 21, advancing by 0.19 percent, or 5.08 points, to close at 2,613.08. It had surged by 12.58 points and 6.78 points on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
However, daily turnover dropped on the third trading day of the week, surpassing Rs 6.19 billion—compared to over Rs 6.57 billion on Monday. Over 11.5 million shares were traded across 69,840 transactions on Tuesday.
All major indices ended the day in green: the Sensitive Index rose by 0.22 percent, the Float Index increased by 0.12 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index gained 0.14 percent.
Mandakini Hydropower Limited (MHL) was the top gainer of the day, hitting the upper circuit limit, while River Falls Power Limited (RFPL) saw the largest loss, with its share price falling 8.96 percent.
In terms of turnover, CEDB Holdings Limited (CHDC) led the pack, followed by Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) and Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, five saw declines. The Others Index recorded the highest gain of 2.79 percent, while the Trading Index posted the steepest loss of 2.1 percent.
