A total of 63,242 people travelled via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) last Thursday and Friday, October 10 and 11.
The number includes passengers from both domestic and international flights on Phulpati, the seventh day of Dashain, and the Maha Astami/Maha Nawami, the eighth/ninth day of Dashain. The Maha Astami and Maha Nawami were observed on the same day this year.
The TIA saw a total of 17,329 passengers in 301 domestic flights on October 10, and 14,436 passengers in 278 domestic flights on October 12, TIA Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa told RSS, the state-owned news agency.
Similarly, the airport witnessed as many as 31,477 passengers in 214 international flights in the same period.

Earlier on September 30, a record 559 flights were conducted from the TIA towards both domestic and international categories to serve as many as 35,704 passengers.
The rain-induced disasters in the last week of September disconnected various road networks in central and eastern Nepal. The demand for flight tickets soared as more people started looking for them with the Dasian festival around the corner.

In the aftermath of the disasters, TIA had to deal with a significant rise in the number of passengers from September 29 to October 2. Photos and videos of overcrowded TIA’s terminal building went viral on social media. Passengers had to face inconveniences as many flights were delayed.
However, the flight schedule has returned to normal in recent days, according to the TIA.
