President Ramchandra Paudel has summoned the winter session of both houses of the Federal Parliament, acting on a Cabinet recommendation made on Monday, January 20. The session is scheduled to begin on January 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the International Conference Centre in New Baneshwor, as stated in a notice from the Office of the President.
This announcement comes amid mounting pressure on the Oli administration from various quarters, following the issuance of several ordinances. Critics and opposition parties had been urging the government to convene the Parliament session without further delay.
The previous monsoon session of Parliament concluded on September 16 last year. However, the prolonged gap between sessions had drawn criticism. Opposition parties, in a joint statement on January 17, had warned they would call for a special session if the government failed to address the delay.
