Nepal Investment Summit Concludes with 15 Project Agreements

March 31: Investors signed agreements to undertake 15 different projects during the Nepal Investment Summit, which concluded on Saturday, March 30.

Chaudhary Group, one of the country’s leading business houses, signed agreements for projects including telecom, solar power, and logistics on the occasion. The business conglomerate signed the agreement with Sky Power, Turk Cell and Sarraf Group for 600-megawatt solar plant project, 5G mobile network and multipurpose center.

Similarly, agreement on Arun III Hydropower Project was signed between Nepali banks and SJVN India

Further agreements for investment on Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project, Upper Trushuli Hydropower Project, Simara SEZ Project, Himalaya Boutique Resort, Green Ware House Construction and API Power (hydro, solar and wind power projects) were also signed during the last day of the two-day summit.  

Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) also pledged for investment in addition to the commitments of IBN Investment Board South Africa, Muthoot Finance and United Finance.

Likewise, Myanmar’s Contractors’ Association signed an agreement with the Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal.  

The investment board additionally received applications for seventeen projects during the two-day summit.

Maha Prasad Adhikari, CEO of Nepal Investment Board said in his concluding remark during the summit that investors submitted proposals for seventeen other projects out of the total 77 projects showcased at the summit.  Out of the 17 projects, seven include infrastructure development projects, four energy projects, three agriculture projects, two education and health projects, and one logistics project. 

The deadline for submission of proposals for other projects is April 20.
